The much ballyhooed federal perjury investigation of Roger Clemens has yet to produce an indictment, though the on-going saga continues to spawn a string of defamation lawsuits stretching from New York to Houston.

According to Blair, he previously told FBI agents that he never supplied either Clemens or Pettitte with drugs. Blair claims to have never met Clemens, in fact. He doesn’t deny having used steroids himself in the past. He also acknowledges having recommended to athletes a Houston doctor who would prescribe HGH (human growth hormone), though he claims neither Pettitte nor Clemens were involved.

Federal prosecutors are scheduled to meet with Blair and his attorneys in Washington on Tuesday morning prior to his appearance before the grand jury that is hearing evidence regarding whether Clemens lied to Congress about not having used performance-enhancing drugs.

HOUSTON (AP) -A federal judge has rejected Roger Clemens’s bid to revive some of his defamation claims against Brian McNamee, clearing the way for the former trainer to file his own suit against the seven-time Cy Young Award winner.

McNamee has told federal agents, baseball investigator George Mitchell and a House committee that he injected Clemens more than a dozen times with steroids and human growth hormone from 1998-2001. Clemens has denied using performance-enchancing drugs.

The judge in February dismissed most of Clemens’ defamation lawsuit, saying statements made in the Mitchell report on doping in baseball are protected. McNamee’s attorneys said the lawsuit had no merit because McNamee was compelled to cooperate by federal investigators.

Ellison agreed, though he left in McNamee’s statements to Andy Pettitte, Clemens’ former New York Yankees teammate. McNamee told Pettitte that Clemens had used HGH and steroids, and Pettitte testified about the conversation to Congress.

Clemens is under investigation by a federal grand jury in Washington that is trying to determine whether he lied when he told a congressional committee that he had not used illegal performance-enhancing drugs. Clemens said he had not been summoned to testify before the grand jury.

There were a great many WTF moments involving Roger Clemens in the past year. But I think my favorite was when he appeared before Congress and, with his wife Debbie sitting just behind him, outed her to the country as a user of HGH (human growth hormone) - which she took without Rocket’s knowledge, which she received at their house, and with injections that she received from Rocket accuser Brian McNamee.

Let’s see how much Roger Clemens can keep denying his HGH use if this latest twist pans out:

NEW YORK (AP) — Roger Clemens’ former trainer gave samples of his DNA to federal investigators trying to ascertain whether the star pitcher committed perjury before Congress, two New York newspapers reported.

The request for a DNA sample from trainer Brian McNamee suggests that investigators found readable DNA on the syringes, needles and gauze pads McNamee turned over to federal prosecutors in January, The New York Times and Daily News reported Monday night.

McNamee’s lawyers have said the items, when tested, would link Clemens to the use of performance-enhancing drugs. They claim McNamee used those needles and a gauze pad while injecting Clemens with steroids and human growth hormone.

Investigators must determine whose DNA is on that material if it is going to be important to the probe. It’s not clear whether federal authorities have a sample of DNA from Clemens, The Times said. His lawyer, Rusty Hardin, would not divulge that information.

(Bud) Selig announced today.

The educational objectives of the comprehensive program will focus on understanding the currently available methods for identifying use of human growth hormone (HGH) and understanding the viability of urine testing for HGH in the future; building a consensus on the most effective methods of implementing widespread blood testing for abuse of HGH; identifying future strategies for HGH testing; and understanding the United States Laws regarding the regulation and distribution of HGH.

 Less ambitious forms of gene doping may be right around the corner.

This will do away with the troublesome virus-based delivery system, as this type of doping would inject “naked” DNA directly into a muscle.

 A new piece of evidence has come into play in the Clemens hgh scandal:

Kirk Radomski, the former steroids dealer, has turned over additional documentary evidence to federal authorities that raises questions about Roger Clemens’ suspected use of performance-enhancing drugs (hgh), according to a lawyer with knowledge of the matter.

Radomski has turned over a copy of a package slip that he said he used to send performance-enhancing drugs to Clemens’s former personal trainer, Brian McNamee, the lawyer said. The package was sent to McNamee while he was staying at Clemens’s home in Houston.
