HGH is used to treat a variety of conditions including PWS. Here is a recent report from WBNG Action News in Binghampton, New York as reported by Jessica Light:

People who rely on human growth hormone, or HGH, could soon find it hard to get. The recent Mitchell Report pointed out the use of HGH by players in major league baseball… a banned substance in the league. It’s now Sparking a law in the U.S. Senate that would restrict access to the drug. But local parents say HGH is necessary to keep their son healthy. Without human growth hormones, 2 and a half year old Tommy Maczko probably wouldn’t be walking. “When he was born he was probably 4 and half pounds, went down to 3 and half pounds. His head wasn’t really holding up his arms were floppy his legs were floppy,” says Tommy’s dad John Maczko. Children with PWS often take human growth hormones to develop muscle mass.

But on Wednesday, Tommy’s parents found out that the U.S. Senate was voting on a law that would restrict access to Tommy’s medication. “Keep laws for the ones that don’t need it that are using it illegally but lets have some type of protocol for the youth, or people who need it,” says John. They had less than 24 hours to act. Along with parents across the nation they emailed 300 of their friends asking them to call their legislators to post-pone the vote.

It worked. “Yeahhhh. Oh my gosh I can’t believe it. We actually did it! Just a bunch of nutty parents,” says Tommy’s mom Cathryn Maczko.
The U.S. Senate told the PWS Association they will work with them to revise the language of the law.
