Writer Shaun Murphy exchanged emails with John T. Wendt, Associate Professor in the Ethics and Business Law Department of the University of St. Thomas, on the subject of HGH. Professor Wendt specializes in sports law and Olympic policies and business. His latest published work in the winter of ’09 was titled, “The Road to Beijing and Beyond: A Time of Transition in the War on Doping.”

Professor Wendt described the current state of Human Growth Hormone. “There are a many misperceptions about Human Growth Hormone (HGH). For athletes it is promoted all over the internet saying that it will accelerate healing and rehabilitation following injury, and increases your cardiac output and athletic performance. Claims have been made that HGH is anti-aging or can even reverse aging.”

But at what cost? It IS a drug with potential side effects. Click here to read about an all natural HGH product that is safe and side effect free.

The Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners suspended the license of Chiropractor Jeremy Bula and requested ABC15 provide investigators with a transcript of hidden camera footage that was recorded during a 2008 consultation with the doctor. In an email sent to ABC15, the Deputy Director of the Arizona State Board of Chiropractic Examiners wrote, “I am writing on behalf of the Board as a follow-up to the investigations you conducted at Revolution Medical Center, specifically the undercover interview you conducted with Dr. Jeremy Bula in April 2008.”

Shortly after the consultation, a doctor at Revolution Medical Centers prescribed more than $2,000 worth of anabolic steroids, human growth hormone (HGH) and other performance enhancing drugs.

Subsequent reporting by ABC15 uncovered several patient deaths, and a note that was left behind by one patient just moments before he committed suicide.

That note stated: Stop using steroids. They will destroy your life or anyone with you… PLEASE.

As a result of our reporting, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration expanded its criminal investigation into Dr. Jeremy Bula and his team of physicians. The state revoked the license of the clinic’s medical director who was indicted in federal court and fled the country.

Bill Reitz, Norfolk Sports Examiner writer put together his own steroid ” list of people he thinks must have use or are using performance enhancing drugs like steroids and human growth hormone (HGH). Here are a few on his “list”:

Rocky Balboa – Ok, first of all he went from being a pudgy, undefined blob at the outset of the original Rocky to looking like a Mr. Universe contestant by the time that Rocky III came out. Add to that the fact that he went after the heavy weight title at age 60 and what you have is the poster child for steroids and HGH.   (Rocky I -??? And Rocky Balboa)

HR Puffenstuff – look at the size of the head on that thing. Wasn’t that the knock on Bonds???

Dog the Bounty Hunter – What it would look like if David Lee Roth and Hulk Hogan had a love child.

Lately, it has become common that a drug designed for one purpose gets a second life because of desirable side effects that have little or nothing to do with the original intent. Sometimes, the drug even gets a third life, like human growth hormone (HGH).When the other incarnations of the drugs have little or no apparent medical value, and are instead used for what amounts to pure vanity, should we be using biotech research to put them on the market? The answers are as varied as the products.

For instance, human growth hormone originally was intended for children with growth disorders. Then “older people seeking the fountain of youth and athletes wanting a boost started finding illegal suppliers of HGH for muscle growth and overall toning,” reported USA Today. HGH, a substance secreted by the pituitary gland, promotes growth during childhood and adolescence. The hormone acts on the liver and other tissues to stimulate production of insulin-like growth factor I, which is responsible for the growth-promoting effects of growth hormone and also reflects the amount produced.

HGH is at the heart of the aging process.

Sometime between the ages of 21 and 30, HGH levels begin to aggressively decline at a rate of about 14% percent per decade. This happens to everybody regardless of gender, race, and lifestyle. The reason this is so important is because there is a rather substantial body of clinical evidence that strongly
suggests a relationship between the decline of HGH production in the body
and many of the negative effects we commonly associate with aging.

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — Pro wrestler and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle has been arrested on charges of possessing a human growth hormone (HGH) and violating an order of protection in suburban Pittsburgh.

Angle was arrested at about 7:50 a.m. Saturday in a Robinson Township strip mall parking lot. His girlfriend, who said she obtained a protection order about 1 1/2 hours earlier after the two fought Friday night, alleged that he had circled the lot staring at her as she sat in a coffee shop, according to a police affidavit.

Police said they found the human growth hormone (HGH) Hygetropin in Angle’s car, and the wrestler told them he had a prescription for the drug. He also told officers he had not seen the woman and was looking for a hotel because he was barred from his home.

Angle, 40, was charged with violating the order of protection, harassment, possession of drugs and paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. He posted bail and is scheduled to appear for a hearing Tuesday on the drug and harassment charges and Wednesday on the charge of violating the protection order, a court clerk said.

The much ballyhooed federal perjury investigation of Roger Clemens has yet to produce an indictment, though the on-going saga continues to spawn a string of defamation lawsuits stretching from New York to Houston.

According to Blair, he previously told FBI agents that he never supplied either Clemens or Pettitte with drugs. Blair claims to have never met Clemens, in fact. He doesn’t deny having used steroids himself in the past. He also acknowledges having recommended to athletes a Houston doctor who would prescribe HGH (human growth hormone), though he claims neither Pettitte nor Clemens were involved.

Prolor Biotech obtained a nonexclusive license to The University of Queensland’s (UQ) human growth hormone (HGH) receptor cell line. It will help the company expedite development and manufacturing of its long-acting version of HGH, comments Shai Novik, president of Prolor Biotech.

“Not only can the cell line measure the hormone’s potency, but it can also be used to detect neutralizing antibodies directed against HGH,” Novik points out. The UQ cell line will also result in significant cost savings, provide more reliable and consistent results compared to current techniques, and does not require animals for testing, the company continues.

Current manufacturers of human growth hormone assay for potency by using hypophysectomized rodents. HGH is then administered to the animals and the potency determined by measuring their weight gain and length of femur. This assay is not only extremely expensive but also produces inconsistent results, according to Prolor Biotech.
