Hormone Definition: HGH & Others Included
July 31, 2009 | Leave a Comment
The term ‘hormone’ comes from the Greek and is interpreted as “to excite.’ With appropriate levels of biologically identical hormones (bio-identical), the body is excited into action. Hormones not only help athletes run faster, they help the body repair faster, think faster, and perform using less energy. Life without hormones is less life, less action and a more rapid demise.
What we have learned these last 50 years is that the natural levels of hormone drop precipitously as we age. The drop in hormones from 40 to 50 is 30% and with the menopause, women experience an 90% drop in estrogens and a 75% drop in testosterone. And men are now losing 25-40% of their ‘manly’ hormones from 35 to 50. No wonder we see so much depression, insomnia, hot flashes, decrease sex drive, and disease. Our bodies are falling apart without our life-sustaining hormones.
Now major natural hormones include, not only estrogen, progesterone and testosterone but also thyroid, DHEA, growth hormone (HGH), cortisol and insulin. For the purpose of this discussion, we will focus on only the natural bio-identical sex hormones: estradiol, progesterone and testosterone.

Short Boys: HGH Injections
July 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Tens of thousands of boys (and some girls) in this country receive injections of human growth hoemone (HGH), the pituitary secretion pivotal to the complex hormonal cascade that mediates height.
The story of growth hormone contains many of the most painful object lessons of modern health care. First it was painstakingly harvested from cadavers, and the tiny supply was reserved for children with pituitary failure. But as we know now, human tissues make perilous drugs, and the recipients of cadaver hormone grew up under the hanging sword of the neurological condition Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, transmitted by some of those shots.
Then, in 1985, new technology flooded the marketplace with synthetic human growth hormone (HGH), safe from infectious contaminants and made in quantities enough to treat not just the truly pituitary-deficient, but all small-comers.

July 29, 2009 | Leave a Comment
CONCORD, N.H. — A Massachusetts man accused of smuggling steroids, human growth hormone (HGH) and other illegal prescription drugs into the United States has been sentenced in New Hampshire to 3½ years in prison.
Twenty-seven-year-old Christopher Chase was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to conspiracy and money laundering charges. Prosecutors say he had illegal drugs shipped from China and other countries and then sold them over the Internet, using fake Web sites to trick banks into thinking he was selling legitimate merchandise.
He was accused of mailing more than 500 packages within the United States and abroad between December 2005 and September 2006.

Obama Wants More Savings By Drugmakers (HGH)
July 27, 2009 | Leave a Comment
John C. Lechleiter, Lilly’s chairman and CEO, warned in a speech at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in May that health reform proposals could stifle the incentive for drug makers to develop new life-saving and life-extending products.
He is concerned, for example, about the approval process Congress might create for generic versions of biological medicines - like Lilly’s insulin, human growth hormone (HGH) and sepsis treatment. Such a process already exists for drugs, like Prozac, made from chemicals.

Wikipedia: HGH Side Effects
July 24, 2009 | Leave a Comment
According to Wikipedia, HGH (human growth hormone) has some serious side effects:
There is theoretical concern that HGH treatment may increase the risks of diabetes, especially in those with other predispositions treated with higher doses. If used for training, growth at a young age (25 or less) can cause severe symptoms. One survey of adults that had been treated with replacement cadaver HGH (which has not been used anywhere in the world since 1985) during childhood showed a mildly increased incidence of colon cancer and prostate cancer, but linkage with the HGH treatment was not established. Regular application of HGH may show several negative side-effects such as joint swelling, joint pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and an increased risk of diabetes.

July 22, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Andrea Giancoli, national spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, highly recommends anyone putting a hormone into their body be under the care of a doctor.
“When you take one hormone, it then messes with another hormone,” Giancoli said.
Kindall said she has a friend who lost 20 pounds taking HCG pills, but she hasn’t tried it or the human growth hormone (HGH).
“I don’t know if I’ll try that,” she said. “I’m kind of doing this low-carb version of Atkins right now, but I’m trying to keep it pretty healthy with less cheese and fats.”

Laughter Increases HGH BY 87%!
July 21, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Stress has been shown to create unhealthy physiological changes, we know the connection between stress and high blood pressure , muscle tension , immunosuppression , and many other changes. When we are unable to cope well with the stress in our life, our mind and body may pay the price. Laughter is your birthday , a natural part of life that is innate and inborn.
Laughter reduces the level of stress hormones like :
a)Â Cortisol : the primary hormone , increases sugars (glucose) in the blood stream .
b)Â Ephinephrine (Adrenaline) : increases your heart rate , elevates your blood pressure and boosts energy supplies .
c) Dopamin : is involved in the “fight or flight responseâ€Â and associated with elevated blood pressure
Laughter increased two hormones :
- Human growth hormone (HGH) : which helps with immunity.
- Beta-endorphins : the family of chemicals that alleviates depression.
Researchers from Loma Linda University in California studied the Cortisol , Epinephrine (adrenaline) levels of male volunteers both before , during , and after a humorous event that they were anticipating ,they found that Cortisol was reduced by 39% , Epinephrine by a whopping 70% , Human growth hormone (HGH)Â increased by 87% , and Beta-endorphins increased by 28%.

Leptin Regulates Hormones Including HGH
July 20, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Leptin, a hormone derived from fat cells, is best known for its efforts to send messages to the body that its time to stop eating. This process may go awry in many people with obesity. Dr. Sebastiano Ando, lead researcher, has noted that leptin is also involved in many other processes in the breast, from reproduction and lactation to cell differentiation and proliferation. Leptin is activated by signals from the leptin receptor, and it is this partnership gone wrong that has previously been shown to be involved in the development of breast cancer. Leptin has been found in 86.4% of primary breast tumors.
All this research implies that the regulation and function of leptin must be restored in anyone wanting to be protected from breast cancer or its return. Health guru Byron Richards, one of the first nutritionists to recognize the importance of leptin, describes it as the single most important hormone for body weight control. Leptin regulates thyroid hormone, insulin, growth hormone (HGH), and renal hormones. When leptin is dysfunctional, all the other hormones regulating metabolic processes become dysfunctional too. He sees an understanding of leptin as basic for anyone trying to get and keep optimal metabolic function.

UFC Fighter Test Negative to HGH, Steroids
July 17, 2009 | Leave a Comment
The Nevada State Athletic Commission’s traditional fight-night drug testing (HGH, steroids, etc) netted no failed tests at UFC 98.
All fighters were tested for drugs of abuse (such as marijuana and cocaine), as well as anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancers.
As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) reported a few weeks prior to the pay-per-view event, the NSAC also administered random pre-UFC 98 drug tests to Edgar, Hughes, Matt Serra and Sean Sherk. All four competitors passed the tests.
The NSAC’s year-round testing was implemented in 2008. MMA fighters are subject to drug testing at any time – for just about any reason – throughout the year, regardless of whether or not the fighter is scheduled for an upcoming event. However, the testing is usually reserved for scheduled fighters.
