Aging Men Seek Youth Fix: HGH?
May 29, 2009 | Leave a Comment
MIDDLE-AGED men are increasingly injecting human growth hormones to fight off old age, spending up to $15,000 a year.
Strict government guidelines state human growth hormone (HGH) can only be prescribed to children with growth disorders and adults with severe hormone deficiencies. But Australian anti-ageing clinics prescribe it to mostly male patients as young as 35 who want to look good and stay fit.
Users say human growth hormone (HGH) gives them more energy, but specialists warn it can have serious side effects.
Black market sales are also booming with Australian Customs reporting a four-fold increase in seizures of the prohibited import in the last year.

Jillian Michaels On Weight Loss, HGH
May 28, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Fitness guru Jillian Michaels says that hormonal imbalances are a big reason why women—herself included—struggle to lose weight, even as they’re ruthlessly dieting and exercising.
Her journey back to health, which she details in her latest book, “Master Your Metabolism” (Crown, $26), involved making diet and lifestyle changes to rebalance her hormonal levels. “People think they’ve been handed a sentence of having a ’slow metabolism’ and there’s nothing they can do,” said Michaels, who wrote the book with endocrinologist Christine Darwin and medical researcher Mariska van Aalst.
Get more sleep. Fill up on fiber so the body produces more leptin, which makes you feel full. And when you’re trying to lose those last 10 pounds, the body gets panicky and shuts off your metabolism, so you have to incorporate weight training. It’s critical in releasing growth hormone (HGH), which burns fat.

HGH May Cause Cancers To Grow
May 26, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Recent data suggest that the increased levels of growth factors such as insulin-like growth hormones (or insulin) and erythropoietin, which is also in the family of growth factor and stimulates red blood cell growth, both increase growth of already-present cancers.
Some of the newer cancer-fighting drugs actually work by inhibiting certain growth factors.
I know of and can find no data specifically on human growth hormone (HGH)Â and cancer, but my assessment of the known data on other growth factors makes me worry that human growth factor would not help cancer patients and may actually be harmful.

The Major Aspects of Growth In Children (MAGIC Foundation) is made up of 25,000+ families whose children and affected adults, have growth hormone disorders or other medical conditions which affect their growth.
Growth hormone (HGH) disorders are the most commonly known disorder, although it is not the most common cause of growth failure. The parents of MAGIC strive to find answers for their children’s lack of growth. As with any special need it’s not an easy road to travel.Â

HGH Therapy Helps Improve Muscle Strength
May 21, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Ten years of growth hormone (HGH)Â treatment improves muscle strength in adults who have a deficiency of the hormone.
The first five years of HGH treatment restores muscle strength, and the second five years and thereafter slow age-related loss of strength, Swedish investigators say.
Adults with growth hormone deficiency tend to have excess body fat and reduced muscle strength, but little is known about the effect of prolonged growth hormone therapy on muscle strength.

A constant routine builds a pattern for your body to follow called a circadian rhythm and allows for hormones to be released in your body at specific times that maximize your recovery and promote an overall feeling of being well-rested.
The most important of these hormones is called Human Growth Hormone (HGH). You’ve probably heard about this one in the news or read about in any regular magazine about baseball. The point is that regular periods of 8 hours of rest will optimize your release of HGH, and with one of its main effects being regeneration of muscle and connective tissue, you’d be well advised to make sure you have plenty on board after every night as you head into any training plan. HGH allows you to recover from workouts faster, and therefore add more volume without breaking down to the point of injury. The best part about it though, is that our bodies can produce it naturally, as long as we get enough sleep.

Work Those Legs & Increase HGH
May 18, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Building lean muscle is a challenge for many of us who have a small body frame, or a fast metabolism.
Build a balanced physique. If you want to bulk up it’s really important to train legs, it promotes the growth hormone (HGH) to release systemically, and that will enhance ALL areas of training and muscle development. There is nothing worse having a huge upper body with chicken legs. So remember to fit in a leg work-out and say no to chicken tonight!

HGH & Bone Mass
May 15, 2009 | Leave a Comment
The genes we inherit, our hormones, and our lifestyle all affect our peak bone mass. Genetic factors have the greatest influence on peak bone mass, but to reach his or her “genetic potential,” a child needs adequate levels of certain hormones along with healthy eating and exercise habits.
Growth hormone (HGH)Â and the sex hormones estrogen and testosterone at puberty are essential for building bone mass in both boys and girls. Maintaining a healthy weight and getting enough vitamin D, calcium, protein, and physical activity are also key to bone health. Calcium is the main mineral in bone, and vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium. Weight-bearing exercise, such as running and jumping, helps build muscle and bone strength.

Study Involves HGH & COPD
May 14, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Recent studies have provided evidence for a link between leptin and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) mediates the metabolic effects of growth hormone (GH).
The GH axis is believed to be suppressed in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The aim of this study is to find out whether acute exacerbations of COPD are followed by changes in plasma leptin and insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) levels and furthermore, whether these changes are related to systemic inflammation.

HGH & Biotechnology
May 13, 2009 | Leave a Comment
(PhysOrg.com) — A new method developed by Cornell biological engineers offers an efficient way to make proteins for use in medicine or industry without the use of live cells. The proteins made in this way include many that cannot be produced by current biotechnology.
Current methods employ vats of genetically modified bacteria or mammalian cells that churn out proteins for such pharmaceuticals as insulin or human growth hormone (hgh). But there are many proteins that bacteria or cells cannot tolerate. Anti-microbials, for example, are meant to kill bacteria and so would kill the host. And many key proteins that are important in regulating the normal life of a cell would also kill the host if overproduced inside a cell.
