Prosecutors charge the three then turned around and sold the drug for a few hundred dollars in New York.  Human growth hormone, sold under the brand name “Serostim” is sought by body-builders and is said to be one of the most popular illegal drugs sold on the internet.Â
Prosecutors say 52-year-old Juan Gonzalez of Pembroke Street in Bridgeport,  and 47-year-old Rafael Guadarrama and 43-year old Rafael Lopez, both of East Main Street in Bridgeport, all are charged with larceny, conspiracy and insurance fraud. Belly Laughs Increase HGH
April 24, 2009 | Leave a Comment
If you are a cardiac patient, a bellyful of mirth is what your doctor might prescribe for you to reduce your risk of heart attacks.
Medical researcher Lee Berk and his colleagues discovered that the anticipation of “mirthful laughter” had surprising and significant effects.
Two hormonesdefine - beta-endorphinsdefine (the family of chemicals that elevates mood) and human growth hormone (HGH: which helps with optimizing immunity) - increased by 27 percent and 87 percent, respectively, in subjects who anticipated watching a humorous video.
There was no such increase among the control group who did not anticipate watching the humorous film. In another study, researchers found that the same anticipation of mirthful laughter reduced the levels of three detrimental stress hormones.

AACE Discusses Medical Tattooing
April 21, 2009 | Leave a Comment
AACE is a professional medical organization with more than 6,200 members in the United States and 92 other countries. Founded in 1991, AACE is dedicated to the optimal care of patients with endocrine problems. AACE initiatives inform the public about endocrine disorders. AACE also conducts continuing education programs for clinical endocrinologists, physicians whose advanced, specialized training enables them to be experts in the care of endocrine diseases such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, growth hormone (hgh)Â deficiency, osteoporosis, cholesterol disorders, hypertension and obesity.
One of the most obvious benefits of medical tattooing is for identification purposes in an emergency situation, especially for patients with diabetes, when a patient may be incapacitated - particularly in the case of hypoglycemic coma. However, it also poses some health concerns - ones that the study’s primary author,
Saleh Aldasouqi, MD, FACE, feels the medical community may need to weigh in on. “Like it or not, tattooing for purposes of medical alerts is a phenomenon that is now occurring,” Dr. Aldasouqi said. “It’s imperative that the medical community take note and that, perhaps, appropriate regulation of the practice be proposed, especially for patients with diabetes.”

Autism & HGH
April 20, 2009 | Leave a Comment
A recent study by Vargas et al investigated the presence of immune activation in postmortem brain specimens and CFS from subjects with autism.
Over-reaction of the endocrine system to insulin stress in autism has been recorded in another study, whereas the experimental stress of insulin-induced hypoglycemia showed slower recovery of blood glucose, much faster cortisol response and elevation of growth hormone (HGH)Â levels compared to controls. Low levels of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) in cerebrospinal fluid have also been observed.

HGH: Antiaging Miracle Or Menace?
April 16, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Some doctors claim that you can actually become younger if you take growth hormone (HGH)Â or antioxidants. Do they work?
Growth hormone (HGH)Â stimulates growth and cell reproduction in humans. It’s thought to increase muscle mass and stimulate the immune system, and it’s available only by prescription and has traditionally been given by doctors for extreme situations. Recently, some anti-aging doctors have been giving it to older patients in an effort to get them to grow younger and live longer. But there are significant health risks associated with taking it, including an increased risk of diabetes, excessive bone growth, and even possibly cancer. It’s true we produce lower levels of growth hormone as we age, but that may be adaptive: It’s possible that high levels of growth hormone in an older body raises the likelihood of developing cancer.

IROs Help Determine Medical Necessity Of Growth Hormone (HGH) Therapy
April 15, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Today the human growth hormone (HGH) industry approaches $2 billion a year.
It claims benefits for enhancing athletic performance, anti-aging and stimulating growth. Unfortunately, many of these remain unproven says NAIRO, trade association of independent review organizations (IROs) whose members see daily requests from health plans asking about the medical necessity of growth hormone (HGH) therapies.
Because of its dangers, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tightly controls HGH and prohibits doctors from prescribing it for any use the agency has not specifically approved. For example, if doctors prescribe the drug to enhance athletic performance or reverse aging they are breaking the law.

Amino Acids, Exercise, & HGH
April 14, 2009 | Leave a Comment
It is important to keep in mind that metabolism during exercise, particularly prolonged exercise can be very different than at rest and it cannot be surmised that a certain result at rest will also be true while the body is under the demands of exercise.
There is some evidence that indicates consuming certain amino acids while exercising results in increased release of growth hormone (HGH), which may provide an athletic advantage. Other research has measured lower level of ammonia and creatine kinase (indirect measures of muscle damage) in the blood while consistently consuming certain amino acids while exercising. It was important to note that these changes were only observed if the amino acids were consumed regularly over weeks, not just at a single point in time. At this point it remains unclear if amino acids during training significantly affects body composition, strength, and/or muscle growth.

HGH: Fountain Of Youth?
April 13, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Ponce Deleon searched all over Florida for it. Countless creams and lotions promise it. Bottles of supplements lining the shelves of GNC and health food stores claim the ability to do it.
Research has now discovered the real fountain of youth and it surprisingly lies smack in the middle of your health club’s weight room. We all know that lifting weights helps us to build muscle and tone but scientific studies have shown that lifting weights helps us improve longevity and health in several ways.
One major way is that weight lifting increases the level of growth hormone (HGH)Â secreted by the pituitary gland.
