Baseball is just one sport marred by HGH use. Who will make it in the Hall of Fame and who won’t???

Former Yankee pitching great Rich “Goose” Gossage will be formally inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend in Cooperstown, N.Y. No great surprise that the Goose, a fearsome relief pitcher in the 1970s and 80s, has made it to the hall. But who will make it in years to come? There are a few obvious picks from the still-active or recently retired pool: players like Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux and Ken Griffey Jr.

The statistical slam dunks marred by allegations of steroid and human growth hormone (HGH) use are another story. Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire and Jason Giambi fall into this tent.

 Needle free HGH coming soon:

Antares Pharma, Inc. (Amex: AIS), a Ewing-based specialty pharmaceutical company focused on drug delivery, and its partner Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA) of North Wales, Pa., announced today that they have sought regulatory approval to administer their human-growth hormone (HGH) with needle-free injections.

Human-growth hormone (HGH) is commonly used to treat children of pathologically short stature, according to the companies. Pediatric patients and their parents that assist in administering such drugs can benefit from the “elimination of needles and disposal of contaminated sharps,” they said.

Antares and Teva filed a “supplemental New Drug Application” with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for labeling changes to reflect the needle-free injection route after conducting 18 months of clinical tests and studies, they stated. They said that, according to industry estimates, the size of the U.S. market for human-growth hormones (HGH) is about $1 billion.

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a debilitating condition in which the host suffers from incapacitating fatigue and poor stamina. Other symptoms include problems with short-term memory, flu-like symptoms, pain in joints and muscles, non-rejuvenating sleep and tender lymph nodes.

Due to the lack of sleep caused by chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia, the brain fails to produce the human growth hormone (HGH) used to repair any muscle tissue that was damaged throughout the day. Because of this observation, doctors have told their fibromyalgia patients that good sleep is a must in order to cope with this illness. Some doctors have started to prescribe Ambien and Lunesta to help their patients achieve restorative sleep.

The preceding conversation could very well become your future morning ritual after the addition of deadlifts into your training regimen.

While squats are excellent promoters of natural human growth hormone secretion, the hormone largely responsible for a youthful physical appearance, standard deadlifts stimulate HGH release nearly as well if not equally.

The standard deadlift is an overall mass-builder that hits the hamstrings and erector spinae hard, but recruits other rear-body muscles like the calves, glutes, trapezius and deltoids. Because of the heavy involvement of those often-overlooked posterior muscle groups, there is strong belief that the deadlift is the most important compound movement and should itself hold the throne as “the king of all exercises” rather than the squat.

Finally, a test to detect the perfromance enhancing drug, HGH is making news:

A team of scientists from the USA and Italy say they have developed a urine test that detects human growth hormone (HGH). The finding is a potential breakthrough in efforts to find a non-invasive way to screen for the performance-enhancing drug that is banned throughout the athletic world.

Governing bodies and U.S. pro leagues have long sought a test that doesn’t require blood to detect HGH, a synthetic hormone that aids in recovery and bolsters muscle growth. Even with the blood test, no prominent athlete has tested positive for HGH. Former track and field star Marion Jones and some baseball players, including New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte, have admitted using it.

With the Olympics right around the corner, HGH and other performance enhancing drugs are again in the news:

Startling new evidence of a burgeoning underground doping culture in China emerged last night as a hospital doctor said that he was prepared to give illegal performance-enhancing gene therapy treatment, possible including hgh, to an Olympic swimmer.

With the Olympics beginning in Beijing in a little more than two weeks, the documentary evidence of cheap, on-demand gene therapy alarmed David Howman, the director general of the World AntiDoping Agency (Wada). “This is worse than my worst fears,” he said.

Howman admitted to finding the material in the documentary “very distressing”. “It is very scary that health professionals should have such a lack of ethics and try what we know to be experimental on human beings for a vast amount of money,” he said. “What they are proposing to do is a total breach of the prohibited list of the standards we have implied to make sure that cheating through the use of gene doping or gene therapy is prohibited.”

HGH deficiency can be very troublesome. Take a look at an article we found on the web addressing this issue:

Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is referred to in medical science as the master hormone. It is very plentiful when we are young, but near the age of 21, our bodies begin to produce less of it. By the time we are 40 nearly everyone is deficient in hgh and at 80 our production has normally diminished at least 90-95%.

Being the master hormone, HGH affects virtually all areas of the body influencing the growth of cells, bones, muscles and organs. When deficient in growth hormone our symptoms include loss of muscle, decreased energy, an increase in fat, diminished sexual drive, a greater risk of cardiovascular disease and a lower life expectancy. In other words, the symptoms we call aging.
